The Beverly Hillbillies

 

The Beverly Hillbillies were an instant success. It was the number one show for the 1962 and 1963 season.  It was shown on CBS from September 1962 till September 1971. The situation comedy produced 274 thirty minute episodes.
 
 
The Beverly Hillbillies The story line behind The Beverly Hillbillies was that Jed Clampett (Buddy Ebsen) and his dog Duke were hunting and Jed shot at some game and produced a gusher of oil on his property. Results instant millionaire. He was paid 25 million dollars which grew over a short period of time to 95 million dollars. He convinced by his cousin Pearl to move his family to California.  So Jed and his family and nephew, Jethro, son of Pearl, moved to Beverly Hills, California, the land of swimming pools and movie stars.  They drove their old jalopy flatbed truck with all their belongings on it. They moved in next door to the banker Milburn Drysdale. Mr. Drysdale takes the Clampetts under his wing to help them adjust from a backwoods environment to that of a millionaire living in Beverly Hills. The adjustments are hilarious and what Mr. Drysdale's does each week to keep the million in his bank ,including enrolling Jethro in elementary school, allowing Granny to open a medical practice and finding Elly Mae a beau just had to the calamity.
