Deputy Dawg

Deputy Dawg was a below average lawman, more concerned with napping than with catching bad guys. The lazy deputy was regularly reprimanded by his human boss, the Sheriff, while his friends Muskie the Muskrat, Ty Coon, and Vincent Van Gopher looked on in amusement.

Deputy Dawg was so popular in the 1960s that, in 1963, movie theatres were insisting that Terrytoons create episodes of the cartoon for the big screen. Impressionist Dayton Allen provided most of the characters voices. Allen would often give the characters the voices of well-known celebrities, adding a layer of hip reality to the cartoon.
