Each week The 60s Official Site will showcase a countdown of the top ten songs of the current week of a particular year in the 1960s.. Mar 5 - Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen, Jr., announces a baseball team is moving there

Mar 6 - Elijah Muhammad renames Cassius Clay, Muhammad Ali

Mar 6 - Liz Taylor's 4th divorce (Eddie Fisher)

Mar 6 - Tom O’Hara set a new world indoor record when he ran the mile in 3 minutes, 56.4 seconds.

Mar 8 - The Dave Clark 5 made their first appearance on the "Ed Sullivan Show".

Mar 8 -  Malcolm X has broken with Elijah Mohammad's Nation of Islam. He believes in the separation of races and announces that he is forming a Black Nationalist Party.

Mar 9 - The first Ford Mustang rolled off of the Ford assembly line.

Mar 11 -  US Senator Carl Hayden broke the record for continuous service in the US. Senate. He had worked 37 years and seven days.

Mar 11 - Elvis Presley's 14th movie, "Kissin' Cousins," was released.
